Nailed it. That’s what Volvo did here, and on pretty much every level too. The attention to detail is impeccable, the cinematography is exceptional, the sound design is excellent, they just hit it out of the park. The music might not be to everyone’s liking, but I think it fits perfectly with the vibe of the spot.
It helps that the new V90 is gorgeous inside and out, but a stylish vehicle doesn’t always mean a watchable ad, see any number of Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Cadillac commercials in recent years for proof.
Volvo is absolutely killing it right now, I think this renaissance is for real, and I hope American consumers agree. If I was in the market for a family-mobile with an automatic transmission, it’d be one of Sweden’s finest, no question.
Now then, V90 Polestar...GO.

Apart from the mountains (Sweden can into mountains? Seemingly so) the ad looks almost impossibly Swedish. Baltic scenes? Bits of Stockholm? Lots of forest? Wooden houses painted dark brown? Rain? Yes, that’s it.

I love Sweden, and Scandinavia in general. They do everything right. Beautiful women, great design, clean cities, abundant green space, death metal, they have it all.
